Volunteer Opportunities

Coaching
Coaching and playing soccer with our players during practices and games is the most common engagement of volunteers. As an assistant coach or practice volunteer, you will build relationships on the field with players, lead by example, motivate players towards their goals, and teach life skills through soccer. As a coach, you will be responsible for leading a practice according to our curriculum once a month and expected to have consistent attendance at practice.

Mentoring
Mentors meet with players to help set goals, determine paths and resources to achieve these goals, keep the players accountable, and most importantly offer support and motivation. Mentors are responsible for working with players on these goals and providing monthly updates to the Head Coach and Program Director.

Program Development
While our program revolves around soccer, we are determined to be innovative by providing our players with access to community engagements, job and housing resources, and team-building. Being involved in program development consists of identifying opportunities for our team to break homeless barriers and gain life skills within soccer and beyond, developing our soccer and mentoring curriculum, and networking with various organizations to better provide our mission.

Fundraising
As a purely volunteer-run organization, we operate off donations from the community. Our Fundraising team identifies grants, donors, and fundraising events to support our mission.

Outreach
Outreach is how we recruit our players. Seattle is a huge place with a ton of homeless services. Showing up and being a presence in these places is important to spread the word amongst the homeless, and allows us to impact more people. Outreach also includes networking with service providers and case managers to encourage their clients to join our team. If you are interested and passionate about joining effort, please let us know.

We periodically run recruitment campaign to get more homeless involved with our opportunity. We are looking for volunteers to help implement our campaign. This would include identifying target organizations, people, locations to promote at, planning our recruitment strategies, and going to specific places to share about SSS

Public Relations
As part of our mission to break homeless barriers, communicating how awesome our players are is important as this enhances our players’ self-worth. Volunteers working with our Public Relation manager would help identify ways we can engage with the community and partake in these opportunities

Events
We hold events like Cap Hill Soccer Jam (4v4 tournament), an Annual Event and more. We need volunteers periodically to help plan these and to operate day-of.

Cap Hill Soccer Jam: Held Late spring/early summer each year, Street Soccer Seattle is always looking for volunteers to help plan, promote, coordinate, set up, clean up, support day-of operations, and referee for our largest community engaging event of the year.
